Soft Hearted.

21 days since I last golfed.

Last night was one of the very (and I emphasize VERY) few times where we sat down to watch Channel 8. As you may or may not know, we as a family do not speak much Mandarin, in fact, I’m a complete klutz when it comes to languages.

Anyways, the reason for us switching on was that my mom wanted to see Jack Neo’s “Home Run”. Surprisingly, the movie was very very watchable. And for those who may not know of the movie, it’s adapted from another movie “Children of Heaven) and its about the trials and tribulations of an older brother and younger sister who came from a poor family. It was set at the time Singapore had just gotten her independence. Anyways, there were multiple scenes where the kids literally had no food to eat nor enough to get a new pair of shoes.

So we took the opportunity to highlight to my elder kid, J1 on how lucky she was to have parents who were able to afford to buy things for her, and also the impending trip to OZ. Well towards the part where the sister lost the brother’s shoes because they were too big to fit, she just broke down and cried. While it was quite funny, it really showed that she’s very compassionate. She gets a bit emotional over little things, but she’s a very loving kid.

The funniest part for us was our discussion on how the movie was banned in Malaysia. How silly! The part that struck a chord with us was the negotiations between 2 rival groups of boys each with their own agenda, over water, over soccer boots etc etc. While Jack may proclaim innocence over those scenes and it’s political undertones…. Well.. yeah right !!! But again, I think it was dumb for the Malaysian government to ban the movie. It played right into the hands of the movie pirates J

Also ate lunch in the office, and took the opportunity to surf blogger, and boy I found a lot of supposedly blog sites that were nothing more than advertising their whatevers. And many of them are like me who keep our identities secret and reveal only to a few people, primarily because the blogs are quite explicit or because our workplaces frown upon people with too much time on their hands (that would be me). For the record, I have only highlighted my blog to one other friend (Dr RJ) my MBA kaki.
